Meet Kim!
Attorney. Mother. Coach. Leader.
Kim Przekota was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon. She has three brothers and is the second youngest of four children. Kim earned a full academic scholarship to attend Iona College (now Iona University) in New Rochelle, New York. At Iona, she was a student in the Honors College. Kim was one of two Iona students selected to spend her entire junior year studying abroad at Oxford University. At Oxford, Kim earned a 4.0 (equivalent) studying medieval history, religion and philosophy. In addition to excelling academically, Kim was also a two-sport Division I athlete. As a member of both the women’s swimming and water polo teams she earned All-Conference and All-American Academic honors. In her senior year, Kim was a starter on the Iona women’s water polo team when it won its first ever conference championship. That same season she earned defensive player of the tournament and defensive player of the year awards. Kim graduated magna cum laude in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
She then attended graduate school at Iona College where she graduated summa cum laude in 2005 with a Master of Arts degree in history.
Kim moved to Illinois to attend law school at DePaul University College of Law. While at DePaul, she was on the Dean’s List and earned awards for prosecution, trial advocacy and public service. Kim graduated with her Juris Doctor in 2008.
After graduating law school, Kim married her college sweet-heart Chris Przekota in 2009. Chris, a Chicago-land native, graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park before attending Iona College. As a student at Iona, Chris was also a two-sport Division I athlete. Chris earned All American honors twice as a collegiate water polo player. He majored in finance and graduated from Iona with his Bachelors of Business Administration in 2004 and Masters of Business Administration in 2005.
Kim and Chris Przekota now live with their three school-aged children in Park Ridge, Illinois where they both work in public service and are active in the local water polo community.
Kim is proud to have been the head girls water polo coach at Loyola Academy for the past 13 years. After her appointment to the bench, Kim transitioned from a head coaching role, to a volunteer coaching position at Loyola so that she could focus her attention and energy towards her new position as a Judge while at the same time remain involved teaching high school athletes a sport she loves at an institution that now feels like home. Prior to coaching at Loyola, Kim coached all levels of water polo in a variety of states including Oregon, New York, Connecticut and Illinois. Chris has been both a coach and a referee, and continues to play masters level water polo. Kim and Chris currently volunteer at the Park Ridge Park District where they run an introduction to water polo program. Building an age-group water polo program in their community is something they are passionate about.
Family. Team. Community.
